Nazareth

Nazareth is a city located in the North District of Israel, in the southern foothills of the mountains of the Lower Galilee, 10 km north of Mount Tabor and 23 km west of the Sea of Galilee.

This city is very important for Christians because as narrated in the Gospels, Jesus’ grew up here when Nazareth was part of the Roman Empire.

In 1880 a cave beneath the church was found and in 2006 the excavation process began. The construction corresponds to the first century and was built of stone and mortar. Limestone pots, cooking pots and even some tombs were found, many say it would be a home similar to the one Jesus grew up in.
