The Tourism Ministry is projecting that by the end of the year, Israel will have welcomed a record breaking four million tourists! So far more than 3.6 million tourists have visited the Holy Land, already surpassing last year’s record by 15% and generating NIS 18 billion in revenue. In fact, almost half a million visitors entered Israel only on October 2018, a historic number of tourists!
The significant increase in Christian pilgrims visiting biblical and historical sites and the 70th anniversary of Israel was no doubt contributing factors. We also saw an increase by 50% of tourists from Holland and Italy.
Due to the record-breaking tourism numbers, the Ministry of Tourism has announced new efforts to entice investors and property owners with the sole purpose of encouraging the development of new hotels and property rentals throughout the country.
The demand for hotel rooms around the city has increased to a 70.1% occupancy rate, so expect in the next couple of years an increase in popularity for services such as Airbnb. Tour companies such as America Israel Tours negotiate their hotel package in advance in order to provide competitive prices while offering luxury all-inclusive experiences.
